Speaking the Language of Sustainability Fluently
I started out as a trainer for English as a second language. The more I dealt with the topic of sustainability, the more I discovered exciting parallels between language acquisition and the skills needed to promote sustainable development. Both areas follow similar principles:
To begin with, we need to be a good listener (Listening Skills). This means actively paying attention and doing so with an open mind, not judging immediately. This way we can open the door to deeper understanding.
We acquire new terms and concepts (Vocabulary) and thus broaden our horizons.
Systems thinking (the Grammar) weaves everything into a meaningful context.
Ultimately, it is all about taking action. Language flourishes on dialogue and exchange. In the same way, sustainable actions are most effective when driven by collaboration and the active participation of all stakeholders.
Both areas demand a long-term perspective and an openness to new ideas.
My Role
I see myself as a communicator who makes complex topics accessible in an entertaining way. I aim to share knowledge, spread ideas, plant seeds, empower organisations and inspire a forward-looking mindset - one that encourages optimism about the future and motivates sustainable action.
